5 Little Ways You Can Make A Difference Today

1. Swap one non-reusable item for a reusable item.

There are so many endless reasons to swap non-reusable items for reusable items. To keep your trash out of the land

fills, to save money, and, in most cases, you end up with better quality items that will last you longer. Really, it’s a win-win for all. A couple of things you can swap out for reusable items:

Coffee Cups. Firstly, paper coffee cups have got nothing on some of the reusable coffee cup designs. Brands like Frank Green and Keep Cup look stylish, are better for the environment and you can even get a discount at some places for bringing your own cup! How groovy!

Grocery Bags. Again, your own bags look way nicer than plastic bags and based on recent news you will have to bring your own soon anyway. May as well start now.

2. Shop at your local farmers market

Shopping at the local farmers market, again, has so many benefits. Often at local farmer markets, they use less plastic and packaging, you’re supporting the local community and you know the food is more likely to be fresher, organic, and non-gmo. Often food at local farmers market is cheaper as well.

3. Reduce your meat intake. If you have seen Forks Over Knives or Cowspiracy you will know that reducing your meat intake can have a huge impact on your health, the environment and the well-being of animals. Going vegetarian or vegan can have a huge impact on all of these factors but so can doing meat-free Mondays, or meat-free weeks with your family, or visiting your local vegetarian restaurant. Why not try a new recipe like these 1-hour Vegan Pot Pies? Check out The Change Box Pinterest for heaps of yummy veggie recipes and go to Happy Cow to find yummy veggie food in your area.ty and you know the food is more likely to be fresher, organic, and non-gmo. Often food at local farmers market is cheaper as well.

4. Give Back or support a socially-conscious business

Donate to a charity that supports a cause you’re passionate about or support a socially-conscious business. There are socially conscious businesses everywhere you look now allowing you to give back in a whole new way. Check out our Ultimate Gifts that Give Guide to see more socially conscious businesses or read through Give Well’s list of the most effective charities to find out where to best donate money to. *Featured above is jewellery from Grace and Able

5. Go op-shopping, don’t buy new.

Op-shopping should be called something more accurate and appealing like guilt-free shopping, or save-money-and-the-world shopping haha, but seriously. It is guilt free shopping. You’re recycling, giving back to charity, not supporting sweatshops and saving money.

There are a million other little things you can do right now to make the world a little bit better. You could find palm-oil alternatives, join green, eco-friendly focused Facebook groups, swap to a biodegradable toothbrush, volunteer at a local organisation or raise money by doing something challenging. What little things are you going to do today to create change?
