We Find Out How The Good Polish Supports and Empowers Women.

For our very first box, the November Box, we featured the beautiful Good Polish nail polishes. We also interviewed them and featured the interview within the November Boxes.

Chatting with the Good Polish Team was so inspiring and it's so amazing to see a business so focused on natural products and empowering others.

What motivated you to start Good Polish?

When we set up the Good Polish we had two goals in mind – to create a nail polish that was in keeping with our philosophy to minimise our exposure to nasty chemicals and…to save the world! Ok, so maybe the later was a little ambitious. With our purpose refined, we set about to create a business that would generate enough funds to pay the bills and to support the causes that are most important to us – helping women and children in need.

Why did you pick this particular charity to donate to? We donate to a variety of charities including Dress for Success, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia and Women's Community Shelters. We chose these as they align with our brand purpose to support and empower women (particularly those with children) and we also purposefully select charities that we believe offer a sustainable, long term solution.

Any lessons or words of wisdom you would pass on to other socially-focused businesses? We are early days yet, so very much still learning every day! In regards to the social aspect of business, one of the things we are still navigating is how to have the most impact while still growing the business. For us, we decided to begin with $1 a bottle to charity, and reinvest the rest of our funds back into the business, with the longer term goal of moving to a model of donating 100% of profit. We think starting small is better than not starting at all, so our 'wisdom' would be to look at what social model is right for you so that you can just get started...and then keep on truckin'!

What is your favourite part of running the Good Polish? Foremost, it's the ability to raise funds for causes we believe in, and then it's discovering, meeting and collaborating with so many other wonderful women doing wonderful work.

What can we expect to see from you in the next year? Our biggest goal is to operate as a social enterprise that can donate 100% of profit to help support and empower other women - we will be crossing our beautifully polished fingers that we achieve that goal!
